THE ROLE As the Sr. Accountant/Accountant, you will: Process financial transactions accurately and on time Ensure compliance in accordance with accounting policies Govern the financial data that builds our financial reporting Proactively support in the analysis of accounting implications of material contracts and agreements, working collaboratively with business support partners Provide analysis and reporting to business partners and executive management THE QUALIFICATIONS The Sr. Accountant/Accountant, has: Proven skills, certifications, education and/or experience in: Accounting in a comparable role CPA designation A commitment to learn and apply Aritzia's Values and Business and People Leadership principles The ability to collaborate fluently with cross-functional partners A commitment to quality and investing in results that add value to the business THE COMPENSATION The typical hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 CAD per year. The final agreed upon salary vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience. We are always looking for top talent. GENERAL FUNCTION The Senior Accountant performs accounting, forecasting, and internal reporting for all inventory-related balance sheet and select income statement accounts for retail, wholesale and distribution entities. In addition to performing traditional accounting activities, the Senior Accountant provides subject-matter expertise to brand/corporate initiatives, including, among other things, new system implementations, preparation of various reports and analyses for management and other departments within the company. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Performs all assigned month-end duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations and other reporting schedules. Leverages system knowledge to prepare analyses to support management initiatives and audit requests. Accurately estimates and calculates capitalizations and reserves for month end close. Prepares quarterly inventory forecasting and monthly cost of merchandise variance analysis. Provides subject matter expertise for inventory-related matters on projects and in support of other departments including, but not limited to, Finance, Field Management, Loss Prevention, Payables, Product Group, Sales Audit, Store Operations, Distribution Centers and LOM. Performs analytical reviews for inventory-related General Ledger accounts. Maintains proper Internal Controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley. Assists in special projects as requested by management.
